SOURCE FAIR USE: ‚Witch Hazel‘ – ‚Hexenhasel‘ – nennen die Engländer die Zaubernuss (Hamamelis). Botanisch hat die Zaubernuss mit der Haselnuss nichts gemein. Sie gehört zur Familie der Zaubernussgewächse (Hamamelidaceae), während die Haselnuss ein Birkengewächs (Betulaceae) ist. Die edlen Sträucher wachsen sehr langsam und die Gartensorten müssen zur Vermehrung in einem sehr aufwendigen Veredlungsverfahren auf vier Jahre alte, aus Samen vermehrte Jungpflanzen der Virginischen Zaubernuss gepfropft werden.
